Expecting twins? Drop everything and read on, Superwoman.

January 21, 2020

Are you expecting twins? Well hey there, you body builder you. Actually, bodies builder. You are a total hero. A Superwoman. Stronger than you know and more capable than you realize. You’ve got this. It’s not easy, and it’s certainly not comfortable, but don’t get discouraged because wow, you are creating something amazing. And memorable. And the journey is just getting started. You’ll forever be in this sisterhood. A sisterhood of twin motherhood, and we just get it, and get you. And understand that any mom delivering any single baby truly has no idea what it’s like to feel 2 months overdue.

(Cue the friend – “Oh, I’m HUGE! I’m so ready! There’s just so much pressure down there.” She says at 37 weeks. And delivers a beautiful, 7 pound baby a week later. Cue the friend 3 weeks later – “It’s the best. I love the cuddles. He isn’t sleeping much, maybe only 4 hours at a time. We are just so busy!”)

Trust me, no matter your bond with this friend, you’ll bond at instantly greater levels to a near complete stranger over the shared experience of twins. Your life will forever be filled with many inside jokes, knowing looks, and bite-your-tongue moments to moms of ‘singletons,’ even moms of 7 singletons. It’s just different. So, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, here are 10 things you’ll need to help you endure the very beginning of the best adventure ahead.

  1. Tums
  2. Carbs
  3. Anti nausea meds / snacks / mints
  4. Belly band
  5. Larger bras and underwear
  6. Cocoa butter moisturizing lotion
  7. Water
  8. Body pillows
  9. A really great attitude (cliche, I know)
  10. Prenatal massage + mild exercise routine

Also, here a couple things to look out for and to prepare yourself going forward – fluid intake, blood sugar levels, rashes, itchiness, swelling, achy joints and random discomfort.

What are some of the pregnancy “must-haves” that helped get you through? Let’s help some fellow sisters out! Let us know!
